Carschenna petroglyphs
Description
The Carschenna rock paintings were discovered by chance by a forestry official in 1965 and subsequently uncovered by the Rhaetian Museum. Countless signs and subjects are engraved on just under a dozen rock slabs spread over a distance of around 400 metres. Comparisons with rock carvings, some of which can be dated, suggest a date in the Bronze Age and Ice Age, around 1800 BC.
Accessibility
The petroglyphs are open to the public. Viewing possible at any time. Access only possible with authorisation from the municipality of Sils i.D. or by taxi. Permits can be obtained from the municipal office and at the Post Inn in Sils i.D.

Die Fundstelle ist öffentlich zugänglich und eine Besichtigung ist jederzeit möglich. Als eines der bedeutendsten archäologischen Denkmäler in Graubünden steht die Fundstelle unter besonderem Schutz. Besucher werden gebeten, die Bilder und die umliegende Natur mit Respekt zu behandeln, um den Erhalt dieses Kulturguts für zukünftige Generationen sicherzustellen.
