Alpine dairy Fluonalp

Description

The Fluonalp is located in the middle of lush alpine meadows, adjacent to the nature and wildlife reserve below the Giswilerstock. Here you can enjoy a wonderful view over Lake Sarnen to Pilatus, Rigi and Lake Lucerne.

At Fluonalp, up to 2,000 liters of milk are processed daily into Sbrinz, alp cheese, Ziger and Ankä (alp butter). The milk comes from around 140 cows that graze on the surrounding alps every summer. These include Brosmatt, Mittlist- and Oberst Fluonalp, Rieben and Schwantelen. 4 alpine herdsmen look after the cattle and ensure that good quality milk can always be processed. Fresh alpine herbs help to give the alp cheese its typical aroma, which also makes the Alp-Sbrinz unique.

You can book a guided tour of the cheese dairy in advance, where you can also make your own alp cheese if you wish.
