One of the steepest funicular railroads in the world takes you from the Leventina to the Piora Valley from the end of May to October. The tranquil mountain region is rich in botanical and geological treasures as well as various animal species. Spectacular views of the surrounding Alps and mountain lakes await you.

Experience the region

From the Föisc hill, which you reach after a short hike from Piora station, you can look out over the largest lake, Lake Ritom, and smaller lakes such as Lake Tom and Lake Cadagno. Up here you can also enjoy the magnificent view of the entire lower Leventina, the Bedretto Valley and the Gotthard massif.

The Piora region is a paradise for sports enthusiasts, hikers, bikers and fishermen. In the mountain restaurants you can enjoy delicious specialties such as mountain cheese, which is produced directly on the Alp Piora.
