“Blackout” – The story of a library
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the start time.
Description
Theatre in Italian. Narrative concept by Daniele dell'Agnola. With Ioana Butu, Silvana Gargiulo and Daniele dell'Agnola. Directed by Silvana Gargiulo. Mask design by Ioana Butu. External eye Masha Dimitri.
In the small library of Garvaglia sul Lubriano, Gordevia, the 85-year-old librarian, welcomes everyone with tea, biscuits and stories. It is a refuge where people deposit books, share memories and find a listening ear and comfort. The serenity of this small world is threatened by an ambitious building project promoted by the mayor, who is determined to build a new car park in place of the library. To do so, he introduces the Kraken Machine, a machine designed to digitise memories and make the library redundant. Then, suddenly, everything changes.
The work is the result of an artistic collaboration between tragicomic actress and director Silvana Gargiulo, actress, singer and puppeteer Ioana Butu, and writer and musician Daniele Dell'Agnola. Aimed at families and constructed with tragicomic language, Blackout intertwines provocation, studio-produced music and the use of masks. The artistic trio returns to collaborate after the success of Imbratisare – abbraccio, which has had 50 performances since 2010.
