Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
1. Timetable
All current timetables can be found at Treno Gottardo, Voralpen-Express, IR Aare Linth and Alpenrhein-Express as a PDF as well as in the online timetable.
For restrictions along the SOB lines, please check the online timetable before your journey and note the information under the current service messages.
If a train is cancelled, a line interrupted, etc., your ticket is valid for the next possible connection, regardless of the type of train and any changes.
2. Offers
In the ‘Select date’ field, select your desired outward journey date.
In the ‘Quantity’ field, you can use the plus sign to add additional
cardholders (travellers).
In the ‘Select cardholder’ field, select a traveller who has already been saved or enter the person travelling by entering the cardholder's first name, surname and date of birth and confirm by clicking on the brown bar ‘Create cardholder’.
After steps 1-3, three fields will open (e.g. public transport ticket outward journey, public transport ticket return journey, additional service). You must edit these fields individually twice as follows: Click on the brown bar on the right
‘Configure’. The calendar will open, where you can change your desired travel date (by clicking on the date) if necessary. If the travel date remains the same as already selected in point 1, simply click on ‘Confirm’.
As soon as you have filled in all three fields and they are black, you have done everything correctly and you can now complete your ticket in the further purchase process by clicking on the brown bar ‘Go to shopping cart’.
Then either click on ‘View shopping cart’ if you want to complete the purchase, or on ‘Continue shopping’ if you want to book other ticket categories.
After completing the purchase, you will receive your booking confirmation and voucher at the e-mail address you provided. You can also find all important travel documents in your customer account under ‘My orders’.
Once the purchase process is complete, it is no longer possible to change the travel dates you have selected!
3. Seat reservation
Watch the video explaining how to reserve seats or follow these steps:
Click on ‘Shop’ in the top menu and then on ‘Timetable, Reservation, Tickets’.
Enter your departure and arrival stations.
Click on ‘Find connection’.
Select your desired connection in the online timetable and click on ‘Ticket/Reservation’.
Fill in the fields ‘First name’, ‘Surname’ and ‘Date of birth’.
Under ‘Reductions’, select the ‘Reservation only’ option.
You can add up to eight more people under the ‘Add passengers’ field.
To make a reservation in 1st class, click on ‘Change’ in the top left-hand corner and select 1st class.
Once you have entered and amended all the information, click on ‘Next’.
You will then be taken to the seat selection. Your automatically selected seat is shown in dark green.
If you wish to change your seat, click on the current selection (dark green) and choose a new seat of your choice from the options displayed in light green.
Once you have selected your seat, click on ‘Add to shopping basket’. You can proceed with the payment as a guest or by using a SwissPass login.
